JAI PULNiX includes an ITS (intelligent transportation systems) division that develops and implements ITS solutions for government and private organizations.

JAI PULNiX's product line features both CCD and CMOS technologies, spatial resolutions from VGA to multi-mega pixel, progressive scan and interlaced format. JAI has two primary businesses: JAI Camera Solutions and JAI Systems. JAI Camera Solutions is a component supplier that designs, manufactures and markets CCD and CMOS camera solutions primarily for the ITS, medical and industrial machines vision markets. JAI cameras help improve our customers' businesses in a variety of ways, whether by improving quality and accuracy, lowering costs, increasing yields, or simply enabling better service. JAI Systems is one of the world's leading manufacturers of specialized traffic systems. The solutions are based on JAI-developed hardware and software, which is often integrated with third-party products.

Position Overview
  • The Vice President, Engineering is responsible for leading, managing, recruiting, developing and retaining a leading edge Engineering organization to develop the necessary infrastructure and products to meet the business commitments of JAI/PULNiX .

  • The Vice President, Engineering will partner with the executive team to provide the strategic technology and engineering vision of employing advanced proprietary video camera technology, and will provide managerial leadership and technical competency to deliver new product technology excellence. The Vice President of Engineering will:

  • Partner with the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Technical Officer, Product Strategy Group and other senior executives in the U.S., Japan and Denmark to define and design leading-edge video camera products.

  • Lead and manage the Engineering organization in product technology and development, product planning and delivery, and engineering services to bring the essential management, structure, people and processes necessary to effectively respond to opportunities and customer requirements.

  • Recruit, manage and retain superb engineering talent to form a cohesive engineering and R&D team focused on technology, development, technical support, quality assurance, test/tools, build/release, and product evolution.

  • Plan, design and implement products utilizing ‘best practices’ testing and deployment processes and systems to successfully meet product sales objectives. Update an engineering and research and development business plan, organizational strategy and hiring plan.

  • Establish, meet or exceed product development schedules and targets as agreed with the Chief Executive Officer and executive team while maintaining the development process (ISO) and patent management. Develop cost estimates for each program, and develop appropriate financial controls and implement project management plans to achieve objectives.

  • Provide technical assessment of customer requirements, and represent company at the highest customer levels with respect to company engineering technology, while providing managerial leadership that reinforces JAI’s values, and work ethic.

  • Establish and maintain effective communications and teamwork with peer levels, and employees in the Engineering and R&D organization, as well as with customers, partners, and vendors.

Qualifications / Ideal Candidate Profile

The Vice President of Engineering should have strong technical understanding and engineering leadership experience in the field of video, CCD camera, optical and/or image processing technology with the a bility to define the customer's needs and visualizing the customer's business benefits. Additionally he/she should have:

  • A strong, confident leadership style and is able to quickly establish his/her professional and personal credibility as demonstrated through their functional engineering expertise, business acumen and personal ethic. He/she must be articulate, persuasive and espouse JAI’s values.

  • A multi-dimensional technology background in hardware and software development that may include CCD or CMOS video camera engineering, CCD image sensors, image processing software, mechanics, frame grabbers and optics.

  • Recognized accomplishments in “management” disciplines – recruiting, employee development, team building, budgeting, planning and project management. Demonstrated expertise in successfully building an engineering organization responsible for software technology, hardware development and engineering.

  • An undergraduate degree in Engineering or Computer Science and an advanced degree in Engineering (preferred), as well as have proven success in managing engineering programs and projects – developing plans, milestones, bringing product to market on a timely and cost-effective basis.

The right candidate will have an open mind with understanding and insight in high technology product development, as well as experience in international business relations.
